Rosine's

This restaurant is a local staple on the Monterey Bay. For that and more, I felt it was deserving of my first blog post. My parents say they introduced me to Rosine's when I was just a toddler. For as long as I can remember, my family has enjoyed this place. I have fond memories watching my parents not just dine there, but build friendships with the staff (many of whom are still there). Rosine's to our town is like Monk Cafe to the Seinfeld characters. The food is delicious; the quality and service, greatly consistent; the atmosphere, casual; and the restaurant as a whole, addictive. If you're a local about to eat at Rosine's you start thinking down your list of "favorite" entrees to order. What will it be this time? The usual, or something else? Rosine's is where we have celebrated birthdays, it was the first place I wanted to have lunch after taking the SAT's in high school, and one of the places I craved most when I was away at college. This is where we go when we're meeting friends for lunch or family for dinner, we meet there for work luncheons, we go there on nights when we want to fill a sweet tooth craving and order a slice of Peanutty Butter Chocolate Cake to go. On Friday night, go there and order clam chowder...the best I've had! In my mind, if you're looking for good food in a comfortable setting, go to Rosine's and start your own habit.

Bring a good appetite and consider sharing a slice of cake among friends. If you don't have a large appetite, share an entree or take leftovers home for tomorrow's lunch.

If you've lived here for a short while, may be moving here, or are planning to visit, this is a local hot spot that you can go to and relax. A great thank you to The Culcasi Family and staff of Rosine's for providing such a great eatery on the Monterey Bay.

*In 2006, Rachael Ray was on the Monterey Peninsula to film her $40 a Day show. She made a point to dine at Rosine's...great choice!
